There are benefits and challenges connected with sharing and you will want to consider a range of issues, including copyright and permissions, comidification, and time investment. Rebecca Stuhr will be presenting on some of the major academic sharing sites, arXiv including all of the many disciplinary rxivsHumanities Commons, Academia.edu and ResearchGate, as well as Penn's institutional repository, ScholarlyCommons. Participants will:

  • Gain familiarity with for profit and not for profit sites and their audiences
  • Understand how the academic sharing sites and preprint platforms differ from one another
  • Be introduced to copyright limitations to sharing your work
  • The possibilities for collaboration 
  • Getting your work the attention it deserves
