Lisa Beth Deutsch

The Lisa Beth Deutsch Memorial Book Fund was established in 2009 by the friends and family of Lisa Beth Deutsch C'94. Lisa graduated magna cum laude with a double major in Political Science and Psychology. She was a proud member of the Phi Sigma Sigma sorority, Kite & Key, and Mortar Board Honor Society, and she began many deeply cherished and lifelong friendships at Penn. Lisa was loved and admired for her warm and generous spirit, infectious good nature, and sharp wit.

After Penn, Lisa earned her J.D. from Columbia University. She clerked for the Honorable William B. Bryant, Senior United States District Judge in the District Court for the District of Columbia. She was Litigation Counsel at Dewey & LeBoeuf where she served her international clients with unwavering skill and dedication. The firm named their pro bono awards in Lisa's memory, recognizing her commitment to pro bono cases ranging from securing an education for an autistic student to winning equal rights for a double-amputee runner with Olympic dreams.

Lisa's professional accomplishments came as no surprise to those closest to her since she brought the same abundant enthusiasm and drive to everything she did. Whether she was meticulously planning a vacation, exploring a bookstore for her latest stack of reading material, or planning a night out to laugh and swap stories with friends and family, Lisa displayed an endless desire to experience everything and to share those experiences with the people she loved. In the spirit of sharing Lisa's love of reading, the Lisa Beth Deutsch Memorial Book Fund will provide books and other information resources for generations of students to come.
